Aquatec Maxcon provided a design & construct solution for this project.

The upgraded Avoca WTP consists of the following main elements:

  • Powder activated carbon dosing (existing equipment)
  • Pre caustic soda dosing (pH/alkalinity adjustment, if required)
  • Pre chlorine dosing (Fe oxidation, if required)
  • Alum dosing (coagulation)
  • Flash mixing chamber
  • Flocculation chamber
  • Lamella type clarifier
  • Pressure sand filters, self backwashing (existing equipment)
  • Filtered water pump tank (existing equipment)
  • Post filtration ammonia dosing
  • Filtered water tank, 150 m3
  • Salt reduction plant and associated ancillary and chemical dosing equipment
  • Permeate tank
  • Post ammonia dosing (chloramination disinfection)
  • Post chlorine dosing (chloramination disinfection)
  • Post caustic soda dosing (pH)
  • Clear water storage, 5 ML (existing system)
  • Waste water handling, sludge drying lagoons and supernatant return equipment (existing equipment)

Aquatec Maxcon provided a high rate lamellae system, a containerised RO system to treat a blend of bore and surface waters to ensure that target water quality parameters were met.
