Nereda® Aerobic Granular Sludge

Aquatec Maxcon has formalised an agreement with DHV BV of the Netherlands in relation to Nereda® technology. Nereda® is an innovative and advanced biological wastewater treatment technology that purifies water using the unique features of ‘aerobic granular biomass’. Unlike conventional processes, the purifying bacteria concentrate naturally into compact granules which exhibit superb settling properties enabling plant footprint to be reduced by up to 75%.

As a result of the large variety of biological processes that simultaneously take place in the granular biomass, Nereda® is capable of producing excellent effluent quality. Even when not particularly sought, extensive biological phosphorus and nitrogen reduction is an intrinsic attribute of this technology which also requires substantially less energy input than conventional processes.

These unique process features translate into compact, energy saving and easy to operate Nereda® installations for both industrial and municipal wastewater treatment. Nereda® presents attractive solutions for green field installations and also retrofitting or upgrading conventional activated sludge plants or SBR-facilities.

Coombabah Upgrades

2012-02-23 Coombabah ThumbThe CASPA Alliance has awarded Aquatec Maxcon a number of major works associated with the current upgrade of Coombabah, the largest wastewater reclamation plant on the Gold Coast.

The digesters include two 23m diameter double skinned and insulated gasometers together with odour containment water seals, gas mixing and heating equipment. These are among the largest of their type constructed in Australia.

Contracts for upgraded clarifier mechanisms and also aerobic digester equipment have also been awarded to Aquatec Maxcon who have provided the majority of process equipment to this plant over several decades of its development.

Caval Ridge WTP & STP

CAVAL RIDGE STP 3-12-2012 089 ThumbBechtel has awarded Aquatec Maxcon the projects to design and construct both the water & sewage treatment plants for the new Caval Ridge mine in Central Queensland. Water will be sourced from Burdekin River, Broken River or Mackenzie River sources as required. The variety of sources required a very flexible plant which will serve the mines requirements.

Wastewater will be treated to Class A+ standards using our membrane bioreactor technology enabling the water to be re-used in a variety of non-potable re-use applications.

Green Power

Aquatec Group Solar Energy Generation System 2

As a leading supplier of environmentally sustainable technologies, Aquatec Maxcon Group has successfully completed the installation of a solar powered generation system on site at its Sydney office.

Supplied and installed by MPA Engineering, the 9.6 kW system is comprised of 96 100W Du Pont Silicon Amorphous Clean Energy Council approved PV panels. The amorphous (thin film) panels were selected due to their increased efficiency and effectiveness in shady and cloudy conditions.

The system is expected to produce approximately 15MWh per year, ensuring 20% of the sites total energy needs is supplied by a renewable source. This also equates to a reduction in GHG emissions of approximately 15.6 CO2-e tonnes annually. The company is also currently installing an additional 3.0 kW solar system on its nearby residential property.
