Odour Treatment Partnership with BioAir Solutions

2013-02-14 - Product Collage ThumbThe latest addition to the Aquatec Maxcon range of technologies concerns odour treatment.

Aquatec Maxcon and BioAir Solutions from the USA are pleased to announce that Aquatec Maxcon is the non-exclusive agent for the sales and distribution of BioAir’s state of the art odour treatment technologies in Australia. The technologies that will be offered to the market are the EcoFilter® biotrickling filter, EcoPure® two-stage odour treatment, EcoPure® Mini (a small version of the EcoPure®) and the EcoCarb® adsorbent media filter.

These odour control technologies are typically applied within the municipal, industrial and sludge treatment markets as well as specific production plant applications including abattoirs and chemical industries. The size of the odour treatment units vary from small skid-mounted systems designed to provide odour control at pump stations, to systems sized for very large sewage plants such as inlet works, anaerobic wastewater treatment facilities, or specific industries.

Odour control and treatment is becoming increasingly important in the wastewater industry and other industrial facilities. Odour treatment is required in many of our projects and this partnership with BioAir Solutions will further improve our service capabilities to our Clients.

Coonamble WTP

2013-01-31 Coonamble ThumbThe Department of Public works has awarded Aquatec Maxcon the Design and Construct contract for a new 5.5 ML/d water treatment plant at Coonamble, NSW. The new water treatment plant will be based on the lagoon sedimentation process designed to pre-treat the raw water in settling lagoons (sedimentation lagoons) followed by rapid sand filtration. pH correction and disinfection will be carried out after filtration.

The water treatment plant will treat bore water to a standard similar to, or better than, the current Australian Drinking Water Guidelines 2004.

European Inventor Award Nomination for Nereda® Water Purification Technology

2012-11-14 Settling Glasses thumbThe European Patent Office (EPO) nominated TU Delft's team of Dr Merle de Kreuk, Prof. Sef Heijnen and Prof. Mark van Loosdrecht for the 2012 European Inventor Award (EIA) for the development of the water purification technology Nereda® in cooperation with the engineering consultancy firm DHV and the Dutch water boards. The invention enables the purification of industrial and household waste water to be carried out much more efficiently and cost effectively in a space four times as small.

Earlier this year, Van Loosdrecht also received the Lee Kuan Yew Water Prize 2012 during the Singapore International Water Week and in May, the first sewage water purification plant to use this technology was opened in Epe in the Netherlands.

Westbury WTP

2012-10-26 News ThumbBen Lomond Water operates the drinking water supply system for the towns of Westbury and Hagley. The current water supply system consists of a raw water supply, a 130 ML open raw water storage reservoir, chlorine gas disinfection plant, sodium fluoride (as Fluorodose) fluoridation plant, as well as a reticulation system.

Ben Lomond Water is committed to the construction of a new Water Treatment Plant (WTP) that shall replace the existing treatment chlorine and fluoridation plants. The new WTP shall be constructed adjacent to the open raw water storage reservoir on land owned by Ben Lomond Water.

Aquatec Maxcon was chosen as the preferred tenderer due to our track record with DAFF technology.

The scope of the project involves the construction of a new in-filter dissolved air floatation plant with a treated water production design capacity of 3.1 ML/day. The treatment process includes the following process unit operations and associated chemicals:

  • Coagulation – Liquid alum;
  • Flocculation;
  • Dissolved air flotation and filtration (DAFF);
  • Filtered water balancing;
  • Disinfection – Chlorine gas;
  • Fluoridation – Sodium fluoride (supplied as Fluorodose);
  • pH correction – Hydrated lime;
  • Filter backwashing;
  • Wash water balancing;
  • Sludge thickening; and
  • Sludge dewatering.
