Southern Redland Bay Wastewater Treatment Plant

Following several months of closely working with Lendlease, we are pleased to confirm Aquatec Maxcon had been awarded the design and construct contract for the Southern Redland Bay Wastewater Treatment Plant. The project is situated in an exciting, high growth area identified by the Queensland Government's South East Regional Plan, and it is part of the wider project under Redland City Council's Shoreline Plan of Development.

Along with our sister companies MPA Engineering and Maxcon Industries, Aquatec Maxcon is engaged to carry out the process, mechanical and electrical design and construct of this brand new MBR wastewater treatment plant. Our engineering design capability, our expertise in mechanical and electrical fabrication, as well as installation proficiency in South East Queensland enables us to deliver unparalleled solutions. Additionally, our extensive network of global suppliers ensures we are able to source the key packages and equipment to provide the best possible service to the Redland community.

We intend to bring our expertise into the wider project team formed by Lendlease for this project which includes GD< Stantec and Silverstrand.  We look forward to successfully delivering this exciting project for Redland City Council and Lendlease.

MEWE Kingaroy Tour

Last week during the International Water Association Microbial Ecology and Water Engineering Specialist (MEWE) Conference held in Brisbane, Monita Naicker from Aquatec Maxcon Group and Andy Watson from South Burnett Regional Council hosted a tour of international delegates at the Kingaroy Waste Water Treatment Plant.

Kingaroy WWTP is Australia’s First of three Nereda plants, has won several awards and continues to repay Council with its low operating costs and high quality effluent used to irrigate local sporting fields.

Delegates heard from the Council operators about the features of the plant and shared their operating experiences over the last seven years.

Kingaroy WWTP continues to operate successfully and helps the Council to meet its environmental and community expectations. Aquatec Maxcon is proud to be part of this landmark project.

Douglas WTP Lamella Clarifiers Opening

Aquatec Maxcon and MPA Engineering have now completed and handed over the new Lamella Clarifiers at the Douglas Water Treatment Plant. At a combined capacity of 177 MLD, this is the largest lamella clarifier installation done by Aquatec Maxcon to date. It has the ability to treat the equivalent of 3 Olympic sized swimming pools worth of raw water from Ross River every hour. The importance of the project in providing water securities for the drinking water of Townsville has been recognised by Townsville City Council at the highest level. On 18th April 2023, our Managing Director Peter Ferrando attended the official opening of the new clarifiers with the Mayor of Townsville, Cr Jenny Hill.
We thank BMD Group and Townsville City Council for the opportunity for Aquatec Maxcon and MPA Engineering to play a key part in this project. It continues our history as a proud contributor to Northern Queensland, which only recently includes major work at Charters Towers Water Treatment Plant, Bowen Sewage Treatment Plant, and ongoing work at Freshwater Creek Water Treatment Plant.

A perfect Christmas Gift for Townsville

Aquatec Maxcon is now undergoing performance testing of the new lamella clarifiers for Douglas Water Treatment Plant. Even at this early stage, we are seeing great removal of turbidity which is leading to substantial improvement to the filter run time. This has only been achievable with the combined effort of the commissioning team, and a close working relationship between Townsville City Council, BMD, Aquatec Maxcon and Trility.
