The Smith’s Food Group contracted Aquatec Maxcon to design and construct a 1.3ML/d wastewater reuse plant on their production site at Tingalpa, QLD.

The plant had an existing screen and oil & gas trap and a heavily overloaded MBBR. To alleviate the plant loading, a DAF and a BIOPAQ®IC were added as well as Ultra Filtration and Reverse Osmosis membranes, Ultra Violet and Chlorine Dosing to bring the water up to better than potable water standard for non-direct food contact reuse in the factory. The UF and RO were designed and built by Aquatec Maxcon

Often the biogas produced via anaerobic digestion can contain excessive concentrations of hydrogen sulphide which are problematic for re-use applications such as boilers and co-generation engines.

Aquatec Maxcon offers a robust, cost-effective technology for biogas H₂S removal. THIOPAQ is a biological process to convert hydrogen sulphide (H₂S) in gas streams to element sulphur. This process can be applied for a wide range of gas streams containing H₂S and it has been successfully applied in treating biogas, landfill gas, natural gas, solids digester gas and refinery gas worldwide. The majority of THIOPAQ applications are for treating biogas, which has become an important green energy resource.

Compared to conventional gas stream desulphurisation technology, THIOPAQ has lots of obvious advantages.

THIOPAQ technology contains three major processes:

  1. Scrubber: In the scrubber, H₂S contained in the gas is absorbed in counter flow alkaline wash water (lean solution). The sulphide-loaded water (rich solution) then flows into the bioreactor.
  2. Bioreactor: In the bioreactor, sulphide in the rich solution is biologically converted to elemental sulphur. Part of the bioreactor flow returns back to the scrubber as lean solution and the remainder flows to the next process – sulphur settler.
  3. Settler: Element sulphur contained within the flow from the bioreactor is continuously fed into the settler. Supernatant flows back to the bioreactor and the sulphur sediment leaves the process.

Compared to the conventional methods of H2S removal from gas streams (Caustic scrubber method etc), THIOPAQ technology has the following advantages:

The Anammox® process removes nitrogen from wastewater in a cost effective way. Anammox® offers great advantages compared to conventional nitrogen removal processes including:

This innovative process is patented and supported by Paques BV of The Netherlands.

UV disinfection is a critical component of modern wastewater treatment, and selecting the right system is essential to ensure compliance and long-term reliability. Trojan UV systems are globally recognised for delivering reliable and validated wastewater disinfection. Across Australia & New Zealand, many municipal and industrial plants rely on Trojan UV to meet discharge compliance and environmental standards.

Trojan Technologies has a validated range of wastewater Ultraviolet disinfection products for a varied range of flows and discharge conditions. From the small Trojan PTP range through to the range of robust Trojan UV3000+, and the flagship Trojan UV Signa all are available in multiple modules, banks and channels to suit your sites specific disinfection application.

As a recognised Trojan UV channel partner for 30 Years, Aquatec Maxcon provides local supply, integration, technical support, and lifecycle services tailored to site-specific operating conditions.

Our extensive capabilities include:

Superior Water-Solids Separation

DAF is a process by which small, micronsize bubbles are made to attach to suspended material in water and carry the solids to the liquid surface. Once at the surface the solids are mechanically skimmed to produce a thickened sludge of 2 to 5%. Similarly, mixed liquors and sludges can also be thickened. The process operates at higher hydraulic and solids loadings than gravity devices, is space efficient and particularly suitable for a wide range of municipal biological sludges, industrial wastewaters, and oily material.

Aquatec Maxcon can offer tailored DAF designs to suit particular industrial and municipal applications
